They Might Be Giants

Lovingly referred to as “The Pink Album” by their fans, They Might Be Giants released their eponymous debut album in 1986 on the then-recently-founded Bar/None label. 37 years later the band’s own Idlewild Recordings are reissuing the album, for a new generation of vinyl loving fans to discover and enjoy.

Recorded in Manhattan over the course of seven months, the album was a culmination of previously recorded demos and new songs brought together for the Brooklyn-based band’s first commercial release. Featuring the singles Don’t Let’s Start and (She Was A) Hotel Detective, up-tempo lo-fi rock permeates the album and is accompanied by bold lyrics exuding an unmistakable 80s playfulness. If any of these songs came on at your favorite bar after a few drinks, you might just find yourself tapping your feet involuntarily.

For the 2022 repress the band complemented the color scheme of the record jacket, choosing to combine O8 (Baby Pink) and O13 (Spring Green) in our two color A Side B Side effect. It’s no secret that we’re partial to a well complemented record jacket and vinyl effect… and this is about as good as it gets!
