Back in 2018, Belgian-Egyptian singer and musician Tamino released his ambitious debut full-length album Amir, to critical acclaim. Recorded with a multi-national collective made up of musicians from the Middle East, the album allows the then-22 year old to take center stage while simultaneously highlighting the incredible band supporting him. Fans of Jeff Buckley will enjoy his impressive vocal range and deep sultry tone on the album’s opener Habibi, as well as the atmospheric and emotional closing track Peresphone. That’s not to say that it’s all low and brooding though, Sun May Shine shows off Tamino’s falsetto abilities as he sings about a blossoming love, and on the waltzing Each Time he speaks of “atmosphere still enveloped by young love” and muses that you’ll find him there… and that’s where he’ll stay!
In keeping with the original release, Canadian label Art & Crafts decided to keep the vinyl color as black, which is housed inside a weighty gatefold record jacket that showcases the incredible photography of filmmaker Ramy Moharam Fouad.
