News: PRP x Tiny Record Shop RSD Live Event (PHOTOS)
By Simon Daley

An intimate crowd braved the cold and rain on a Saturday afternoon to join us at Tiny Record Shop for an afternoon of unmissable live performances.
Record Store Day took place worldwide on April 22 and to celebrate we teamed up with longtime Precision Record Pressing clients, Paper Bag Records to sponsor an afternoon of live in store performances at Toronto’s Tiny Record Shop. Despite the inclement weather on this particular morning, a small intimate crowd gathered at the store and were treated to three engaging performances from CJ Wiley, Sunnsetter, and Zoon.

After a brief live soundcheck while vinyl fans perused the store’s RSD haul, newcomer CJ Wiley took to the stage. Accompanied by their regular collaborator and best friend Elliott Isaac, Wiley dazzled with songs about friendship, identity and the trials of life. With an album currently in the works, Wiley is one to keep your eye on and catch at a live show soon.

Quickly following CJ Wiley was multi-instrumentalist and singer, Sunnsetter. The pseudonym of Andrew McLeod, Sunsetter performed with an impressive array of instruments and effects which included kneeling down to use a bow on his electric guitar. Combining ambient elements with traditional songwriting, this was a performance that certainly excited the tight-knit audience. Heading out on a mini tour in May, make sure to catch McLeod if he’s playing in a venue near you.

Closing out the show was the multi-talented and enigmatic Zoon, who alongside McLeod and electric cellist Michael Peter Olsen performed a collection of songs from their upcoming album Bekka Ma’iingan, as well as an improvised piece. By now a number of passers-by had filtered into the store, lured by the sounds of Zoon’s atmospheric performance and their final song got the longest (and loudest) applause of the afternoon. We can’t wait to listen to Zoon’s album in full, which is released April 28 2023 on Paper Bag Records.

Thank you to everyone who came down, we can’t wait to see what next year’s Record Store Day brings and hope to see you at a Precision Record Pressing sponsored event soon.
