Precision Record Pressing features in a new documentary on historic Toronto record store, Play De Record.

Back in 2020, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic a small film crew visited Precision Record Pressing’s Burlington, Ontario location to film our pressing operations for a new documentary. Two years later the finished film titled “Drop The Needle” premiered at Toronto’s Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema to a sold out audience. Focussing on storied vinyl record store “Play De Record”, the film charts the rise of the DJ mecca and how it influenced Canadian music for decades.

The premiere on October 22 was a sold out affair, with a significant percentage of the audience made up of DJs from the Toronto scene as well as friends and family members of those featured in the film. This created an electric atmosphere and demonstrated how films celebrating this moment in time are few and far between and should be treasured when they’re made.
