By Julia Girdharry

On International Women’s Day, we celebrate the women whose music shapes and challenges the musical landscape.

But beyond celebration, we also recognize the disparities they navigate; inequities in opportunity, representation, and recognition. Music is a space where stories are told, emotions are shared, and perspectives are amplified. It thrives on diversity, not just in sound but in the lived experiences that shape it. These artists bring their full selves to their craft, offering perspectives that make our music community richer, more complex, and undeniably more alive.
